Behind the Scenes - May 28, 2015 : All About Tea

Behind the Scenes with Ivy Visitacion

It was a lovely summer afternoon when the Sampaguita Group of the Negros Occidental Garden Club held its special presentation “All About Tea”, at the Pavillon Hotel, Bacolod. Most of its members are true tea aficionados with a fine taste for the refreshing drink that has become an almost daily routine in their lives.

The place was abloom with lush plants and flowers brought by the Sampaguita Group for the raffle. Club members oohed and aahed at the clusters of rare and exotic plants which they hoped to win that afternoon. A most delightful surprise was the impressive display of Twinings Tea of London, one of the sponsors of the group's presentation. The contemporary and premium look of the Twinings Tea packages drew a lot of favorable comments from the well-travelled members of the NOGC.

The presentation opened with a dance number “Tea for Two”, from the musical “No, No Nanette”, performed by the ladies of the Sampaguita Group, who were all clad in formal tuxedoes complete with hats and white gloves. Their weeks of rehearsals certainly paid off as the number went divinely without a hitch. This was followed by a special talk, entitled “All About Tea”, by Julie Carbon, a very active member of the group. Her message held the audience in rapt attention. Mouth-watering teatime snacks were served, together with delicious Twinings tea oftentimes called the “Champagne of Teas”, which had the audience asking for seconds.

The different groups of the NOGC were given free samples of TwiningsTea for them to bring home and share with their family and friends. Kudos to the NOGC Sampaguita Group for a highly successful and classy presentation.*
